What a joy to learn that Marie-Laurence, Artistic Director of the Dance School 'Danse ta Vie', who decided to provide Belgium with a professional school for realizing a dance career, is offering its opening for the upcoming season. This center aims to provide essential knowledge not only to become a dancer, but also to become an interpretive artist, with the general culture that should go along with it! (The history of all dances in general, anatomy, especially music, literature, painting, etc., and most importantly, the awakening and thirst for knowledge that anyone who wants to pursue a contact profession like dance must possess)!

Classical dance suffers today from a "trend" that claims to be innovative, attempting to rejuvenate a Tradition that they unquestionably know little about! It's essential to know that true knowledge does not suffer the ravages of time or the fashion that they adhere to, as those are temporal!

All the great Masters have always asked to work "intelligently," to cultivate serenity, analysis, even curiosity, to not perform movements without a reason for existence, in short, to primarily create a dance of sharing (essential), and not a "selfish exhibition dance"!

I wish Marie-Laurence the strength to materialize her project, to surround herself well to achieve it, and the necessary courage, for she has the youth and passion to realize it, especially in a time when classical dance is in such a precarious state!

I am enclosing a copy of a letter from Anna Pavlova to her teacher Enrico Cecchetti:

"In an era where people do not understand that to teach others, one must first have worked very hard themselves and acquired true experience, and where anyone can call themselves a dance teacher and open a dance school where everything is taught except real dance..."

Anna Pavlova, (London 1911)

When one attempts to change habits that have been established over time, "one disturbs," so it must be understood that a negative current will arise, and one must be prepared for it. But as my Master used to say: The Primary Truth can be slowed down, but it cannot be ignored! (B. Nijinska) With all my affection, J.G.

P.S. Agrippina Vaganova holds deep respect for the teaching and knowledge of Enrico Cecchetti; she will write that Cecchetti has immense significance in the history of Russian Ballet!

P.S. I would like... No! I WANT!!! Does that remind you of something?"

When you see your child fulfill her childhood dream: dancing in New York.

What an emotion!

When you see her work hard, evolve, and finally dance on a big stage in a great city like New York. What pride.

But all of this has been possible thanks to all the kind-hearted people who make her progress and grow in her passion every day.

Thank you, Marie Laurence Lionnard, for giving her the love for dance, the discipline of hard work, the desire to always go further and improve.

Thank you for understanding her, pushing her to give her best, and being a shoulder to lean on when things get tough.

Thank you to all the great teachers who have given her advice, corrections, the passion for their art... pushing her to always progress.

Thank you to Fabienne Bettens and Éric Demely for their support and for giving our students access to the best teachers, the great masters.

The road will still be long to become a beautiful dancer, but we know that she has the best support to achieve it..."
